I have waited long enough!!! The original plan was to wait until the Salvisa house sold and then buy the boat for "looping". The house has been on the market for a month and I finished the list of renovations to my daughters house. I am currently helping with a small renovation project at a friend's house. However, my part of that one is about finished, so the only logical thing to do now is to buy a boat and get this adventure started.
I sent my specs to a buyer's agent we talked with almost two years ago about buying a boat. When we spoke with him he seemed to be one of the few we talked to that really seems to want to help us find "our" boat rather than convince us that one of the ones he has listed is the best boat for us. The advantage of taking so long to get the house on the market is that I have had time to look at a lot (and I mean a lot) of boats online. Theresa and I have looked at several in person as well.
I wrote earlier about "boats by the numbers". I have a somewhat analytical nature and tend to compare the "numbers"/specs on boats and use that to judge the boat. Well it "got" me again. I was certain that the Beneteau 331 was the perfect boat for us. All numbers lined up, but when we walked down into the salon area, it seemed so much more closed in than some of the other 33/34s we have been on.
By looking at them in person, we have a much better idea of what we want and we have been able to strike some of them off the list (like the Beneteau 331) and give examples of ones we like. I listed the features we like in each model and the things we thought were the drawbacks of each one.
So hopefully when we head off to Florida next weekend, of course with my spec check list sheet in hand, we will find the perfect boat. After that the hard part starts, choosing the perfect name for the boat. Wish us luck!!!!!
